How to ensure guests arrive on time for celebration dinner?

hello, we are having a wee post wedding celebration dinner. Is is appropriate to state an earlier bogus time on actual invite (1/2 hr diff) for the dinner to ensure people get there on time and not arrive when the meal has commenced? thanx

  1. 1/2 hour is fine- people don't expect the dinner to be served the second they get there


  2. Id write something like 6pm sharp.

    If you think you are sure to have a lot of tardy people, maybe make it 1/2 hr difference.

  3. have a "cocktail hour" and serve drinks and orderves before the meal. Have music playing and socialize before dinner. I think half an hour sounds great. It isn't a bogus time, it is good planning on your part.  

  4. Well for my wedding, on the invitation I put half on hour earlier than the correct time and almost everybody was on time.

  5. Yes, definitly. Where my husband's family is concerned we always put an hour difference before the actual party because they are always late without fail.
