I am a college senior and am looking to get an entry level accounting job. Every posting I have seen requires previous experience. Does anyone have any experience on how to get into this field?

  1. I presume your major is business or accounting?  Does you college have on-campus recruiting?  Most accounting firms send representatives to schools to recruit new graduates each year.  If your school doesn't have this, then you need to list relevant course work on your resume so that prospective employers will be aware of the classes you've taken (in lieu of experience).

    Good luck!

  2. I worked several accounting position s on a part-time basis during college, so that I'd have some experience when I graduated. You could almost certainly find some work during tax season (Jan-April), especially if you were willing to take off a semester to work full time. It would he worth it to have the experience under your belt when you get out.

  3. Check out the websites of accounting firms and see what entry level positions are available.  Try corporate sites as well for accounting department jobs.

  4. Go in as a general ledger accountant or A/P professional.  Those aren't very high-level accounting positions and you should find one just fine.  Just remember that there aren't a lot of jobs out there, so you are competing with those w/ experience.
