  1. Why would you want to?? You can't record back on to it unless its a rewritable disk and most DVDs aren't.

But if you want to erase it just for the sake of erasing it - a magnet should work.

  2. magnets over it

  3. RUB IN SAND...YOUR DVD WILL SURELYBE ERASED !!!!

  4. I'm assuming you want to reuse it again, but if you want to do that, the disc must be either DVD-RW or DVD+RW. Do note that there is a logo on DVD+R discs that says RW, but it isn't because RW is just the DVD+R Alliance's logo. To erase a DVD+/-R, you must physically damage the disc, either by scratching or shredding it. Commercially made DVDs like DVD movies cannot be erased using a computer. Using magnets will not effect the disc, because there are no magnetic sectors on DVDs. Using a magnet on a hard drive, will damage the data and possible render it useless. If the disc is RW, then put it into your computer's DVD burner. In Windows XP, go to My Computer>(Your DVD Burner's Drive Letter). Once there, in the bar on the left, there should be an option to erase the disc.
