  1. The best way is to give man a rod to fish.

So interest free loan is the way to go my friend.

Usually poverty is caused by none free trade laws, corrupt governments and the like... so it's kinda hard to change or erase, but you asked...

check out adam smiths wealth of nations

  2. NGO's and small charity organizations can help. But it often is a tougher task for smaller organizations. In such cases bigger organizations like the united nations can help a lot. They are already in a campaign to end poverty by 2015. The campaign has a community http://www.orkut.co.in/Community.aspx?cm... where one can find the details about it. Thus I feel that the united nations can help a lot in the rehabilitation of the people of Sichuan province in China.

  3. Erasing the poverty quickly is not possible, you can do that slowly. If you are that much interested in erasing poverty ,you and your friends together can start a social club to help poor people .Demand funds from Government. etc etc...

  4. make a charity and contribute as much money as you can!!

  5. I absolutely agree with Abhinavv..I visited tht community and found it very interesting.

  6. You cant do anything about it, unless you lead the Communist Party in China.  If you happen to do that, then you need to disavow communism and help convert China over to being a Democracy, and let the free market take over.  This doesnt guarantee prosperity, but it certainly helps spread it, versus the elitist system in place in China right now.  Of course, if you are a Westerner, there isnt much you can do.  Large donations of $$ just enrich the leaders in China, and leave the poor just as poor.
