I really don't like the fact that yahoo, google and other search engines save the searches you make and show them when you enter letters... Does anyone know how to avoid this ???

  1. Click on the drop down menu at the search box.  Yahoo's says 'clear', Google's says 'clear history'. Click on those. You should also clear your history by going to Tools - Internet options - then delete browsing history.

To prevent them from saving your searches go to the drop down menu (Yahoo search box) click on options and uncheck auto complete and search history. For Google go to settings - options - search box settings.

I'm using Vista. If yours is a little different, just look around and I'm sure you'll find what you need.

  2. If you are using Internet Explorer click on Tools, Internet Options, Content, Auto Complete. Then clear forms. This will erase the search history. If you don't want things showing up again then deselect the auto complete options at the top of the page. Be sure to select ok at the bottom. Clearing the history only deletes sites visited and doesn't clear the search history in the search bar.
