  1. x                          y

    -2                      (plug x into y) -11

    -1                        -10

    0                          -9

    1                          -8

  2. You're only in Pre-Algebra hmm? Must be a sixth or seventh grader. Ok I did this last year lol let's see if i can remember

    What you do is make a t chart (i wish i could draw it for you!!)

    xTy   really crappy but that's how you would set it up with the x on the left and the y on the right (just pretend the T is the chart) Then you would have the values for x stacked up under the x column. You would subtract the 9 from the value of the x. For example if you had the -2-9 it would be -11. So -11 would go in the y column and so on and so on.

    BTW: something that helps REALLY well is "cross the line change the ssign." For example: -2-9. If you're having trouble with that switch the minus sign to a + and turn the 9 into a negative. But you have to do them both you can't do one without the other!! So it would look like this -2+(-9) (the paranthesis are only to show that the 9 is negative). So that helps alot. It would basically be adding like normal but you just put the "-" in front of it.

    Hope I could help :-)

  3. Make a table with 2 columns and 5 rows.  In the first row, write x in the left column and y in the right column.

    In the second row, write down -2 for x (the first thing you're given).  Figure out what y is when x is -2 by plugging in -2 for x in the equation:

    y=-2-9=-11

    write -11 in the right column under y

    In the third row, write down -1 on the left side for x.  Plug in -1 and see what y is:

    y=-1-9=-10

    In the fourth row, write down 0 on the left side for x. Plug in 0 and see what y is:

    y=0-9=-9

    In the last row, write down 1 on the left side for x. Plug in 1 and see what y is:

    y=1-9=-8
