  1. You should limit your physical activity during fasting.  One very light walk per day should be ok.

  2. fasting during ramadan is not considered healthy but i wont tell you not to do it because it is an important part of islam, however, you should exercise only if you are sure that you are getting enough carbs.  it may be better to exercise at night because with a limited diet your metabolism wont work well in the morning

  3. hope Andy S can substantiate the claim that fasting is "not considered healthy" - if you can, you would've found a loop-hole for me not to fast this year (given that muslims are actually not allowed to fast if it causes harm to them).. so far, all i can find is this disease called H&T (will explain at the end of this answer)

from what i've found so far, there has been studies that fasting does not have any adverse effect on your body... one of them (http://www.jssm.org/vol6/n4/16/v6n4-16pd... concludes that "In conclusion, it appears that Ramadan fasting has no adverse effect on body composition, nor on power outputs..."

on the question what routine to keep during Ramadan, this article gives a good insight on how the body works & how then to exercise during Ramadan (http://thehealthblogger.com/fasting-to-e... - basically what is says is that "one should engage in moderate activity that will stimulate muscular contractions. This could range from walking, stretching, deep breathing, to exercising a little time before breaking the fast". it further says that "... fasting before exercise increases fat utilization and lowers the rate of muscle glycogen ..." - i guess a plus point if your reason is mainly because of weight.

you can also go to this website - http://www.dailymuscle.com/2006/09/26/th... which also gives a reminder on how NOT to ADD whight during ramadhan.

for those who are still looking for a solid reason not to fast, try this incurable disease called H&T - Hunger &Thirst.  this was once diagnosed to me by a friend Dr. (PhD though - not a medical Dr.) :-)
