  1. I agree with Super Me

But you also need to stress to her that it will be over much sooner if she holds still. And that if she fights it it will still be done and it will hurt more.

I also would not tell her too far in advance or she will dread it or obsess on it, at least my kids do. I generally tell them on the way to the appointment.

  2. Tell her that she got sick sometime in the past and this is something they do to make sure she doesn't still have something like that now. They will be poking her to get out some blood that would be holding onto some of it for them to look at. They do it to everybody sometimes even little bitty babies and older people. And then everybody goes to get ice cream afterwards so their body can make more blood. Something like that anyway.

Getting blood drawn hurts me; I hate it and those who do it! After they take blood and she is hurt then don't tell her it doesn't actually hurt! I hated it when they told me that! It DOES hurt! Just acknowledge it and take her to get her ice cream!

  3. Tell her that they are going to give her arm a little poke and it will hurt but not for long. Tell her she needs to sit very still. Also, let her have a comfort blanket or animal to hold while it's being done. Get her a treat afterwards. Most of the time the phlebotomist will give kids stickers when they are done.

  4. tell her the truth. but also remind her that pain doesnt last forever. promise her a day out with you to right after and a special treat :D

    help me?

  5. The only decent thing to do is tell her it WILL hurt alittle, but if she does it, she will get [insert bribe here].  That's only fair.

Tell her why she has to have this done, weather she understands it or not.  But STRESS she will get something she really wants, if she does it without too much fuss.

And what Amber said: "Also, let her have a comfort blanket or animal to hold while it's being done."  That's a REALLY good bit of advice!  :)  Thank you Amber!  :)

    ..

  6. dont explain it, just say "can you do this for me? It wont hurt"

then bribe her and say "lets go to Mc'donalds!".

Im sorry to say but i doubt she will understand.

  7. Explain to her that it will help make it so she doesn't get sick and that although it will hurt a little, you'll be there to hold her hand through it.

  8. Tell her that it WILL HURT. If you lie you will lose all trust.

Tell her why she needs its.

Tell her its a very small tube that go into her arm to get some red fluid (aka blood).

    Promise her ice cream after.
