Question:

How to export RAW images with original colors?

In my RAW editor I can see thumbnails of my images with the "correct" coloring that they were taken with, but my editor adjusts the exposures and colorings when I open them. How can I get my images to reflect the original coloring so that I can export them that way?

  1. Which RAW editor are you using? That's like the most important piece of information that you can leave out for this question.

    Follow-up:

Chances are, the thumbnails were taken from the JPEGs embedded in the RAW files. These low-res thumbs are created by the camera and they look as if they are regular OOC JPEGs.

RAW files contain a lot of untouched data that is modified and discarded when producing JPEGs (RAW images are typically darker, less saturated, not very contrasty, etc. when all the settings are zeroed). Different developers process the images in different ways. The default color rendition you get in one program may differ from that of another. It's up to you to edit them accordingly so that the results are to your liking. If possible, make the settings a preset so that you can batch edit future images.

If you'd like to try another free developer I'd suggest RAW Therapee:
