  1. cover the part with low adhesive blue 3m tape(the kind used for painting)...then cover it with aluminum tape(the kind used for duct work).....then cover surrounding areas with plastic so you dont get it in undesirable places...then spray the aluminum tape with pam(yes the cooking spray)....apply your fiberglass matting/woven....let dry......pop it off...outline where you need to cut for fit..and have at it..ive made seat pans like this and it works great.

  2. wow i kinda expected more well you need to make a wooden box bigger then the part fill it about half way up(or deep enough for the next step) quickley before the foam dries press the part in the foam your trying to get a full imprint of the old part you can set something on the part but best results it is best if you hold it there by hand for about 15 min

after that time the foam will be dry you can now pull on the part out carefully and you will have a imprint of the part just grind away where the part was broke or fill with more foam and then grind down till it is smooth and perfect negative of the old part

then coat a side of cloth with resin and place inside the part trying to fit the cloth in every spot then coat the back with resin (this will make it even more pliable use lots of resin)and fill in to any gaps you missed with the cloth once the cloth is in every spot you should add more resin then another layer of cloth then more resin then another peice of cloth etc until you have the thickness you want

then wait for it to dry

once it is hard and dry pry the part out of the foam if you dont want to use the foam again you can just break the mold

once the part is out you can grind and sand it down to a smooth part and drill out any holes and such

    \then prime then paint

    thats basic

    goodluck

  3. fiber glass resin eats most foam , been there seen it done it,

if you are making  an original make out of wood  then get a box  fill with plaster of parris cover blank with Vaseline put blank in allow to dry remove blank,  one mold

  4. start with a paper masha mold of what ever you want to make a cast of what you want then coat with reson and lay glass matt and so forthtrim to fit . welcome to costumization

  5. That was a good answer but the asker forgot to say what kind of part they wanted to make. If it is an engine block then the fiberglass won't last long.

  6. If you are trying to replace plastic parts (fairing) you should get new ones. Fiberglass is Heavy and who wants to add MORE weight to their bike.

  7. pretty labor intense but here we go

first you need to make your plug, which is a replica of what your making, wood and bondo work well as there easy to shape, then you'll need to paint it with a gel coat or automotive grade paint,as this is what the final product will look like

next, spray release agent onto the plug and let dry, dont get runs as they will show in the mold, then spray with gelcoat and let dry, then lay fiberglass over that and reinforce with wood to keep it rigid, let dry, give it a shake and a few taps and separate the two pieces, throw away the plug, and spray the inside of mold with release agent, remember no runs! spray with gelcoat, and lay up glass, ta da finished product!!
