How to fight back when someone is swinging at you?

We've all seen how when some people fight they just swing like crazy and hope to connect. Well here we started boxing after school and most people here do just that. Is there in way to use that to your advantage?

  1. Alright.. You do know that the shortest distance from one point to another is a straight line no? Well, that's what boxing is all about, getting from point A to point B. Assuming that "person" is randomly swinging at you and wasn't formally trained in boxing, he/she will most likely flail there arms randomly at you. Stick to using front jabs to keep distance and to knock your enemy off balance... then do the classic 1-2 combo with the right cross. Most simple and straightforward (literally)...

  2. well if its just pure boxing then just wait for an opening and fire away but if kicks are allowed then just kick him in the thigh once and then start firing away

  3. Hands up, lots of head movement. Wait for one to pass, then fire straight punches to get them moving backwards.

  4. keep your hands up to cover the sides of your head and keep your chin down. move around alot especially your head. and wait for the right moment to throw a straight jab or cross. once you connect, try to keep him occupied by throwing more jabs then when he least he expects it, freaking throw a cross or hook. you must be patient.

  5. Use your angles. When they come charging at you, dart to the side and then counter attack while at that angle.

  6. If you see the person starting to swing, just punch him with all you got once, straight in the face. not a swing, just a straight heavy punch. It doesn't matter if you get hit by one or two of the swings. It probably would not hurt as much anyways. Just as long as you hit him hard and he goes down, you're in control.

  7. No lets be clear, you have not started boxing after school, you have started fighting. Boxing suggests that somebody with you, preferably an adult actually has a clue. If this were the case you would not be asking a bunch of strangers on here, that you don't know if they really know what they are talking about, for advice.

My suggestion is to find a good boxing gym and learn correctly, under a qualified coach. I hope mommy and daddy are aware of what you are doing, and that you have their permission, otherwise the medical bills may come as a shock when the inevitable accident happens when untrained people try to be UFC superstars. lol

  8. You can close the distance, cut off their swings and fight an inside game.  You can also circle, maintain distance, counter punch and wait for the opponent to punch themselves out.  These are the best and easiest opponents to fight in my opinion.

Edit:  I did not read fully read the question.  I hope you are sparring under professional supervision in a gym.  Otherwise you are breaking the law.
