How to finalize a DVD on my Sony DVD recorder to work on other players?

Lately I've been having some problems after finalizing discs.

On some discs, the menu will not appear, and I get an error

message when trying to play it on another machine. Is this a flaw in the disc or the machine?? Can they be successfully finalized on another unit or on a computer ?? Help!!

Hi Bruce,

On my Sony with the DVD in the tray, the door closed and stopped hit "System Menu" on your remote. From the menu that comes up using the arrow keys on your remote select "Finalize" and hit enter.

It will take several minutes to complete.
