How to find a adopted child?

I had a Son in 1979. The birth record states "father Unknown". His mothers parents adopted him. I would like to find him without contacting that side of the family.

First of all do you know what state he was born in. I know that when my brothers children was trying to find their half brother thet went to my space and typed his name in and that is how they found him. Do you know your son name? If you do try that web site or one of the search companies. I hope you find him
