How to find a dead mouse in the house?

Question

Yesterday i found a living mouse in the basement of my house.

I managed to entrap the mouse.

But the smell in the basement tells me, that there was another mouse which is dead now.

Do you know a possibility how to find the mouse?

Or do I have to look behind every cupboard and so on, just following my nose?

Follow your nose. There was a dead rat in our front yard that one of my two cats had killed. They were no help in helping me find it, in fact they avoided the area. Just follow the flies.

If it smells like cheese it is a dead mouse. The only way to find it is to go through everything yourself or  hire and exterminator

The best thing to do is just follow your nose, as the smell gets stronger you'll know you're getting closer. Although if you don't really feel like trying to find it, just leave it, the smell should be gone within a week and if it's behind or under something chances are you'll never find it by accident. Hope this helps. Oh by the way, I'd set some other traps around the place because chances are where there's 2 there's more. Good luck
