  1. The LDS site, which has a lot of records anyway, has a pilot program going on where they are trying to upload as many copies of original documents as they can.

You might try searching for him here:

    http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsear...

In addition, a visit to the county courthouse of the county in which he died, might get you a look at the death certificate but you would have to pay to get a copy, unless you take your phone or digital camera and you can just snap a picture of it. (If Nevada has an Open Records Act)

  2. You're going to have to list where he died, for help.  Some States have Death Certificate copies on-line, while you may have to pay a fee to the recording entity for a copy in others.

  3. You could try the Social Security Death Index which is free but will only give you his birth / death date, his SSN and last place of residence.  Here is the link to search the SSDI:

If you are looking for more information than this, edit your question with the State and County where he died.  A few places in the US provide free access to death records on-line.

I should let you know though, if it was in Washoe Co., NV, death records are not available on-line but  it only costs between $8 - $15 for direct relatives to get a copy of the death certificate  from the Washoe County District Health Dept.  - Vital Statistics

    1001 E. Ninth Street, Bldg. B, 1st floor

    PO Box 11130

    Reno NV 89520-0027

For more information call (775) 328-2456 or visit website at this link:  http://www.washoecounty.us/health/ahs/bd...

Depending on where, its hard to know which website to refer you to. - I'll check back.
