How to find a good apartment?

How can I find a good apartment to live in that is safe, well-maintained, and has a good location? I graduated from college recently, so I haven't done many housing searches before. Thank you.

You can consult with an apartment locator service.  To be on the safe side, see if your local Better Business Bureau has any as members.  And whatever you do, always see the place in person and check all the details.  I should also warn you that apartments can change owners and go right into the toilet, so be ready to move if you ever find out that the ownership is different.
