How to find a homeschool for special education?

How, or where, do you find a homeschool for a special education student? I have found a lot of websites which tell you how to do the homeschooling. I have found websites with homeschool curriculum. I need to know how to find an actual homeschool for special education. One where a person will pay them and get materials for the child, then send the work in quarterly. Or they do the work on a computer.

This is for a lady with a foster child. The child is not being treated well at school and comes home crying. The teachers are being downright mean. It's very sad.

  1. i can see your problem. I'm sure some homeschooling curriculum's have a special education program for them so call them to make sure there is one. if not some homeschooling programs let your children learn at your own pace. see if there is a program like FLVA(florida virtual academy). they are sponsored by k12 who provide everything. i am currently in this program and i get to learn at my own rate and i did get 1 or 2 subjects a grade back so i could learn them and get better. that provide the computer, internet and books for free. so just look up k12 and ask about it.

  2. Repost this in the homeschooling section with the age and type of disability.  I'm sure you will get better answers there. :)

  3. Homeschool is done by the parent (or in this case the fosterparent) at home.  There is no "special ed homeschool".  There is only homeschool, done in the way that works best for the individual chid's needs, at the child's pace.

I don't know about where you live, but where I live, foster kids cannot be homeschooled.  The state insists they must go to public school.  They won't even allow private school, even at the fosterparent's own expense.

  4. First of all, you have to read the homeschool laws for your state. You can find them on your states dept of education website.

In some states, homeschool is considered a 'private' school.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'find a homeschool' for special ed child.

The teacher (parent) of the homeschooled child usually finds help for the child, either with programs they do themselves to help the child at home, pay to send child to an Learning disability school, pay for services such as LindaMoodBell for dyslexia, etc.

There is no 'special ed homeschool'.

I understand what you mean about the school being bad. It's VERY common all over the USA. I started homeschooling my special ed child because they wouldnt' help her.

  5. your local department of education or council could be of help here even go see the head teacher of the local special school they would be of help i am sure

  6. Home school is not a business. The foster mother would have to teach the child at home. She would need approval from the state in order to do that. If the child in in special education and not receiving services at the public school, hire  a special education advocate to help enforce the Individual Education Plan that the child will surely have.
