How to find ability of an individual in an Organization ?

hello friends.. this is a question on the management subject 'Organizational Behaviour'.. so its a hard core academic question...

the exact question is: "descrice the special steps you would take to ensure that an individual has the appropriate abilities to satisfactorily do a given job" ?

  1. I would first assign the individual to a job position which is appropriate for him based on his academic credentials and his experience level.

    I would observe his conduct and his output to determine his effectiveness in this specific job and his potential in other job areas.

    I would then send him on four three month assignments in diverse work areas and again monitor his proficiency.

    I can then formally assign him to the job area where I believe that he can excel and be productive.

    His proficiency and efficacy must continue to be monitored and adjustments made throughout his tenure.  The employee must be aware that complacency and tenure are not givens.  He must continue to produce at the appropriate level.
