How to find correspondents and a host family for a stay to study in the usa ?

Good morning,

I'm 19, I live in France and I am a student in the first year of international trade and I would like to spend a stay in usa (2,3,4,5 or 6 months) in New York if possible. But I really do not know how to go about it. If you can help me in anyway I would be very pleased. For example how to find correspondents in New York or a foster family. Thank you for your help.
