  1. Call the bankruptcy trustee

  2. Did your attorney get his law license at the Las Vegas College of Accupuncture (and maybe Law)?  He's giving you false advice.  Insurers do not pay for their insured's unpaid debts.  As mbrcatz said, get in touch with the bankruptcy trustee and file your claim.  If there is anything left, you might pennies on the dollar.

  3. First of all, that lawyer is wrong.  Liability insurance doesn't cover unpaid debts. So you won't be able to collect under their liability policy.

Second, if they can't pay you, likely they let their liability coverage lapse quite a while ago.

Lastly, even if they HAVE coverage, it's private information, and won't do you any good - they won't take a claim from you.  You have to file suit papers, and if the company wants to turn them in to their insurer - if any - they will.

Otherwise, you probably just have to get in line with all the other creditors, and hope there's some left to pay you SOMETHING.
