How to find information to design a security system using sensors and cctv?

i need detail info about the programming, software and components use to create a surveillance system.i'm a student

I have that info in my mind and it would take a very long post to tell you how to put together all the different sensors available for security systems.  These are actually rather cheap nowadays.  Even the ones that use color cameras at remote locations that transmit back to your computer.  

I would do a search for security systems and check out the prices first before committing yourself to a lengthy design process.
