  1. First do a Yahoo and Google search to try and find any articles about the Old insurance agency.  You might find something indicating which company or agency bought it.  Second action would be to contact the State Dept. of Insurance.  They will have records of all such mergers and be able to tell you who the new owner is.


  2. Most states have an office or agency that oversees the actions of insurance companies. In Oklahoma it is the State Insurance Commissioner. Part of such agency's responsibilities is to determine which insurance companies are licensed to operate in their state.

    They should have contact information for those companies. Incidentally, the usually are the people to contact if you have a complaint as well.

    The second place to check with would be the agency that issues corporation paperwork within the state in question. For example, in Oklahoma it is the office of the Secretary of State, if my memory serves me correctly.
