  1. UK answer.

You could ask the Salvation Army to do a search on your behalf.

    Hope this helps.

  2. If I'm correct, there are national DNA files, so just get a DNA sample to a hospital (they can take a blood sample there) and ask if they can find some matches to your DNA. Then you just wait till they get the information to you =)

    Good Luck!

  3. Take a DNA test....

I know my father...but he a-banded me at young age and I wish I never knew him though....  he isn't with me (thank god)....

When you find ask him the questions you need answers for and forget about him...

  4. A name is helpful. Ask your mother, she ought to remember him. Ask anyone who may know for his real name. Chances are he is local. Start locally, get his name, check the electoral roll. Unfortunately the excellent Salvation Army tracing service is not available in your case because they were not married. SA also do not trace half siblings.

  5. If you need the name hospital records are a good place to start.

If you have a name and need a location check voting registers.

  6.   genes reunited    is extremely helpful in several ways...Do give them a try. Good luck with your search.

  7. No..

Hospitals do not release records (which are your mom's records), and God help us all, if there is some 'master dna" database.

if you KNOW that the man on the birth certificate isn't right.. the ONLY person in the world who knows the name, is mom. Father can be out there and know the truth also, but unless he comes forward, AND you then do dna paternity test, you will not know for certain.
