  1. Need some more information.

The wep key is a key to access a wireless network. Are you trying to access your own network? If so what kind of router do you have?

If it is your own router, here are some general directions:

First connect directly to the router using a cable.

Then go to Start -> Run Then type cmd and push enter.

In the black window that pops up type ipconfig and push enter.

Look for "Default Gateway" and copy the number next to it (for example 192.168.1.1)

Type this number into the address bar in your browser and hit enter.

The rest is up to you since i don't know what brand the router is. Just look for something that says WEP key setting or similar.

  2. the key should be stored in the wireless hub / modem. Soooo, you reset the modem, and reconfigure it (with pencil and paper in hand - you use the pen and paper to write down the details as you go thorugh the process, NOT simply to comply with the "pen and paper in hand" statement).

  3. Log into your wireless router.

    Go to the WEP screen

    Write down the WEP password

If you had told us the Brand/Model we could have given more detailed instructions.

  4. The wep key is stored differently on every operating system and there are ways of recovering it.
