How to find out my computers NIC interface name???

  1. Go to Start, then Run (or Windows Key + R)... and type in cmd <then press enter>

    at the command prompt, type this in:

    netsh interface ipv4 show interfaces

    when you press Enter, you'll see your interfaces (NICs/VPN/etc. will show up here) with their associated names.

    Device manager unfortunately won't work. It'll give you the manufacturer's name of the devices, but not what they're referred to within Windows.


  2. Go to:

    Start>Program>Accissories>Command Prompt

    Type this (with no space) : " ipconfig " then hit Enter.

    You will see your NIC :-)

    You might have more than one Interface card, in that case either one you disconnect, it won't show up.

  3. My computer>right click>properties>Hardware>Device manager>Network adapters>here you  are , your NIC name  

  4. Have you tried going into device manager and clicking on your network devices.
