How to find out the ratio?

okay heres an example problem,

The total amount of money is 500KD

Mark had (3):5

Ben had (5)-3

or any thing plzzzzz help

Divide 500 by 8.

Then add five of your answer for the one person

And the three for your other.

Then write it down as

?:?

(with the numbers where the ?'s are obv.

sorry i always over explain)

I am not sure I understand the problem! Does Mark and Ben share the 500 kd?
