How to find out your IQ

Can it be done over the internet? I see lots of IQ tests on-line, but how do you tell if they are legit?

If not over the net, where can you have one done?

Online intelligence tests are not accurate.  Legitimate intelligence tests, such as the Stanford-Binet IQ test and the Weschler Adult (or Child) Intelligence Scale, are usually administered and evaluated by psychologists.  Even in cases where they can be administered and evaluated by anyone, a legitimate test is designed by a psychologist or other scientific professional.

I have had several rounds of professional testing, and I have compared it with free, online testing.  The online tests have always given me an IQ of 20-60 points higher than my actual IQ.  The online tests have always varied, but the three professional tests that I've taken are very close to each other.

If you are in high school or college, you could talk to your school counselor about getting one done.  You can also get one done by a psychologist that specializes in standardized testing.  Mensa also administers an accurate test.
