  1. I've got a dingy does that count?

  2. Have you got your yachtsmasters and radio liscence. You need these mate to be a skipper at a commercial level i.e charter work.

  3. try looking up fred dovaston crew at yachtjob.com ,harbour tug .com,sail-search.com,or findacrew.net, or wilsonhalligan.com . Hope this helps

  4. duh, get on the net and find charter boat companies and make some phone calls or send some resumes.  if you really have great experience you should have some good connections, wouldn't you think?

  5. You have to have a lot of hours on the vessel just like a pilot would a plane. Most people have their own charter service and hire from people they know well. It would be best to try to hired on  the charter boats in a different capacity to begin with, let them learn about you, your work ethic and competence. Also, location means a lot. like Alaska would be a great place and so would British Columbia. Research your prospects. Look on line under charters, guides, tours etc.
