  1. to find the perfect dog, the best thing you can do is keep your eyes open for opportunities. look for local shelter listings, website that host greeters where you can go and look at puppies that are up for adoption, and petsmart! petsmart is always hosting greeters! mostly on the weekends (sat. sun.). they have expensive puppies though. in my case. a dog is a dog. if you love it, and it loves you, then what does it matter if its a mutt or a pure breed. most pure breeds go fast though so...if you want a pure breed, best that  you hurry! if not...there is no rush. but, if you have kids that are at your house a lot, best you bring a kid with you when you go to greeters at shops and shelters so the dog can get used to  the feel of young kids around him.her.

    hope i helped!

  2. It is great that you are going to the shelter.  The best advice that I can give you is to be patient.  You may not find your dog soul mate the first time you look.  It is really hard to walk away from all of those sad eyes but remember you are choosing a partner for maybe 15 years or maybe even longer.

    1. Be Patient

    2. dont overlook the adult dogs

    3. don't go by looks alone

4  meet the dog one on one.

    5. Look past any grooming, smelly issues (if from shelter)  Baths work wonders.

    6.  Be Patient

You WILL find him/her Good luck

  3. I'd go to the shelter.

But if you don't find the dog that's right for you there, don't worry, an opportunity will come along at some point.

  4. Go to a shelter and ask the people there to help you, they are experts at this sort of thing.

    Also, just an FYI

small dogs will cost more in vet care in the long run, they're more prone to injury and other illnesses than larger dogs because of the nature of breeding programs to make dogs smaller and smaller.

  5. Okay..so whats the question?

There isn't such a thing as a "perfect" dog.

  6. Just be patient, I looked in the classifieds and looked on line at the humane societies in the area and even at my local animal shelter but I did find my soul dog.  I know how you feel but just hang in there and you will find your soul dog too.
