I'm pretty confused as to how to find the right color for foundation. I've always had the color lighter or slightly darker and it makes me look terrible. Anyone have any pointers?

  1. Use a reputable brand with a huge color selection...Loreal True Match or maybe Revlon ColorStay, just whatever has a wide selection...and find a color you THINK will match you, and test it where your chin...that's usually the best area for testing...or right where your jaw meets your neck. Just take it one shade at a time, either up or down from the one you might have thought would have been right...and skip that if you matched on the first try.

Or when all else fails, ask a sales associate.

  2. take the bottle and hold it up next to your jawline. find the closest shade possible and if u cant decide, you can always mix two shades.

and revlon just came out with the custom creations foundation and it's the one i use and it works well. there's a dial on top and there's a range of shades you can choose from. and its perfect for summer because when you tan, you waste a lot of money buying different shades but with this, i can just adjust the dial

  3. I have ALWAYS used clinique foundation. The best way to know your shade is to walk into a department store like Sears and ask the lady to help you pick a shade.

Remember that you change colors between seasons, so in summer you are darker than winter, so you need to change your foundation every six months.

    Hope this helps!

  4. When you're looking for the right color foundation...apply a little foundation on your jaw line...NOT ON YOUR HAND!!! The color on your hand and face are two different colors. So match the foundation to the color on your face. Don't forget when you apply foundation, apply to your neck as well...it is part of your face....use a good moisturizer before you use the foundation. Good luck!

  5. i have the solution try raw minerals you could even blend to get your perfect shade

  6. "When testing a foundation, always check the match in natural light. Apply the foundation to the side of your face, go outside, and check it in a small mirror, taking care to check that it also matches the color of your neck - a line of demarcation between face and neck is, frankly, ugly. Most of the time, a foundation with a yellow undertone is best, unless you have the fairest of skin tones. Also, it's important that the type of foundation you pick is the one that's good for your skin and meets your needs."

  7. first of all you need to make sure your using a good company and one that you can trust. my mother works for marykay and you should really find someone like that in that kind of company that can help you try different foundations never just buy, buy, and buy you need to sit down with someone who knows what will look and work for you. they who know what is best can help answer all your questions and you can go home with a good product you can trust and enjoy!

  8. Do you remember what brand you were using when the foundations were too dark or too light? Do you remember what color? Maybe try going from that, if you don't want to stay with that brand, maybe try finding your shade in that brand, then finding the same color in another brand you want to try. I hope that wasn't too confusing. You can also mix a lighter foundation with a darker foundation to get your perfect tone.

    Hope this helps!
