How to find traffic reports online?

my friend is driving from ca to ks and he called to ask what the traffic was like on hwy 54 E. i've tried to look it up and cant find anything relevant to my search. does anyone know what the traffic is normally like over there or how i can check it myself. thanks for your help. sorry if this is in the wrong category.

AAA might be one source also if you have GPS system many of those have traffic updates. Each big city will have radio stations. Hope this helps.
