How to fish East Lake Toho in Orlando?

I am going for a 1-day fishing trip to East lake Toho and am planning on renting a small motor boat. I have no experience fishing large lakes or fishing that area, so any help on how to find a good spot and what to use in terms of baits/lures would be great. Thanks!

  1. Showing off?If you don't know then you don't go.Can't you ask the people there? They are more precise than people here.People here just give you a crappy answer because we haven't been there.

  2. I have fished Toho many times, (in tourneys & for fun).

Generally, you would want to start EARLY in the morning, (5 AM). Cast shoreline structure and weedbeds until around 11AM.

From 11-4PM take a siesta or a long lunch break, (unless it is overcast or raining). Your odds on catching anything during the hottest part of the day are minimal. If you do plan to fish through the hot prt of the day, cast docks and blow-downs in 8-10FT of water.

Flipping a paddle-tailed worm (or Spinnerbait) around wood structure can be productive!

Soft plastic Colors- Junebug, Red shad/Green glitter, Purple, Motor Oil, Pumpkinseed, Etc.

Spinnerbaits and Husky Jerk Rapala's work well as "searching lures", (for Bass).

    Bait-

    A. For Bass- 6-8" Shiners, (Float these under a cork or balloon rig).

    B. Bluegill- Crickets, meal worms, or earthworms.

Your "best bet" (for Bass) would be to troll at a brisk pace casting Spinnerbaits. If you catch a couple in an area, SLOW DOWN and start using your soft plastics.

OR start working the docks immed. with Senko's, paddle-tailed Texas-rigged 8" worms and S-baits.

Keep a Rattletrap (in Shad/Pogey pattern) handy for deep weed-bed edges and schooly-Bass.

Hope this helps ya? Good fishing.
