  1. Ask for permission - many states have laws stating you must get permission in writing. Check your fish and game website for your state - it may even have a sample form you could put your info in and print it out.

Be friendly when you ask for permission and be dressed nice so you don't look like a punk or criminal. Appearance matter. If you sneak in not only do you need to worry about the local police or sheriff you need to worry about the game warden because he can give you a ticket in addition to arresting you for trespassing!!

  2. I used to do that as a kid.  We had a golf course near our house with ponds and one small lake that were full of fish.  There was one day a week that the course shut down for mowing and such.  They would allow fishing on that day for members.  Nobody ever asked if I was.  Caught a bunch of fish.

  3. This will largely depend on where you live and where the club measures on the snooty level.

If it's in Scottdale, AZ, or Rancho Mirage, CA, you can forget about asking for permission.  It won't happen.  These large clubs have a gov't structure.  No single person makes exceptions to rules.  They don't spend their time addressing the recreational desires of the ne'er-do-wells that live on the outside.

So, if that's what you're up against, you can do the night-vision, camo, combat fishing if you want a thrill.  Or you can think of it as your buddy's hot wife; you can THINK about doing it, but you just don't go there.

If you do go, leave the beer at home.  No need to carry excess baggage.  And don't make it a habit.  If you do, you will get nailed eventually.  And if you're 18+, that will be expensive and embarrassing.

  4. First of all ask for premission. Ask for it in writting or at least get person name you talk too. Now days that sneaking in at day or night can easy wind up treaspassing charge. You may loose your gear and court cost and fines will be enough you could purchase yourself and all you friends plenty of fish at the store.

  5. Hey I agree sneak in but don't forget to wear your camouflage you are taking a risk you could get arrested for it but that is the fun in it your taking a chance so stop talking and go do it already.

  6. All you can do is ask. If they no then it`s up to you what you do. These days you can get a criminal record for less than sneaking on a golf coarse to fish.  Honesty is the best policy.

  7. I remember reading an article that described this same situation.

The best time would be to sneak on the pond at night and make sure you have a spinning reel type rod to insure there aren't any backlash problems.

  8. Ask the owners or else you'll get arrested. Or else sneak in in the middle of the night. jk!

  9. Go at night,my friends and I used to do that when we were younger because they wouldn't let us during the day,we would sneak on there with a case of beer,it was great,we scared the snot out of a couple of guys this one time who apparently had the same idea we did so be careful,if you see some good fishing others most definitely have also,we ended up slamming beers with these guys and we all left with a pile of sunfish,so go at night, just be careful

  10. David, sneaking in is against the law. (period) find out who owns the course. ask him if he has done any studies on the quality of the fish in his ponds there? Ask him if he would like to one upcoming evening join you to catch and release while doing a healthy fish count and check to see if there are any diseases on their skin or fins. The place could also be owned by a private (or even publicly traded) company that manages golf courses all over the country. Then the manager you need to befriend. You might even get so lucky that he'll call you after the last group tee's of in the evening and join you.

I use to fish a two course property with the repair manager at daiwa she knew and tuned the reels of the owner who also would come out and join us and they trick# 124) these bass just love eating 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch 7 inch strips bacon rigged like a worm on a carolina rig.....
