  1. One thing you can try is candle wax... Take your line from the lure/bait and rub about 3-4 foot section (or however long you may need) over the candlestick (almost like you are sawing the candle in half). The wax will coat the line and make it buoyant, keeping it off the bottom structure. I also use this technique for fishing with top-water lures.  


  2. I would use steel leaders, with the weight on the bottom.

    Or maybe, use a bottom rig with short leads coming off for your hooks.

    Fishing in the shells, although great, does cause problems with mono and braided line.

  3. I will give you 2 alternatives to explore.

    1 If you want to fish on the bottom use a steel leader.

    2 if you fish off bottom use a slip Bobber and set it to a pre determined depth.
