How to fix a broken electrical cable?

I have a few guitar cables and a super nintendo controller that dont work. how do i find the part of the cable thats broken, and do i just solder it back together? should i pay a professional to do it for me?

  1. take some copper wire with insulation and solder it on to each end then electrical tape the heck out of it until its as thick as the original cord.


  2. You can buy new plugs, cut the old ones off about an inch back and solder the new plugs on if you are able to solder.  They usually break near the plug.  It might be cheaper to just buy new cables.
