How to fix a high pressure power steering line...

I have a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird V6 2.0L and I recently found that a leak has formed in the high pressure power steering line. I have tried to locate the part at local parts stores but have come up empty. Is there anyway to fix this problem with some other types of materials? I have tried sealing it with Mighty Puddy and have also had no luck with it. Thank you in advance for any and all ideas and solutions.

New one to me never had trouble with power steering lines, but if it is anything like fuel lines there are no standard replacements. There are standard diameters and pressure ratings.

Then purchase by the foot or inch.

Phone call to the dealer parts department should give you the specifics They might say that they do not keep records on vehicles older then TEN YEARS. Let them know that it will probably suffice to have the same information on later model Pontiac Sunbird V6 2.0L this will get you close enough to check a small piece against the old line. NOTE; Just because they give you the information does not mean you have to buy the part there, but ask what the price is while you have them on the phone!

If you do not rely on this vehicle to get you back and forth to the parts department, remove the old line and take it to the parts store for comparison.

An other thought on this subject is to talk to the folks at the auto wreckers they most likely DO NOT have a part that is up to your standards, but they may be able to point you in the right direction to get the proper hose with the proper specifications.



Also get new hose clamps for the hose once located. It really is no fun finding that one or more break when replacing if you have no replacement!

It will have to be replaced. Sone auto parts store should have on or be able to order one.
