How to fix a pixelated line on an LCD screen?

I just read that an individual said he purchesed a LCD screen and had a pixelated line across the screen that was blue. He said he used the "Q-Tip" trick and hasn't had the problem since. I read about the vaseline trick for scratches but what is he refering too? The monitor was a 37" tv.

Apparently you can sometimes fix a "stuck" pixel by putting pressure on the area. Note a "stuck" pixel may be white or some specific colour, while a "dead" pixel is black. See the link for a thread on this topic ... including the Q-tip trick ... which is basically a damp Q-tip on the screen.
