Question:

How to fix a tire on a dolly (hand truck)? Tried to pump it up, but air keeps escaping.

Tire does not have a tube, but looks like it is not sealed against the rim (no hole in the tire).

Do I need to use something to seal the tire to the rim?

Are there tubes I can buy (and where) to put in the tire so it won't lose air?

I don't use it too much, but when I need it I need it to work!

Thanks!

  1. either a piece of rope or an old large clamp will work for getting it to air back up,once it starts taking air though remove the rope or clamp and it should air the rest of the way up,rope works ok for this, just be careful those can blow off the rim if you apply to much air to them, good luck.

  2. Use a strap or 3/8" rope, wrap it around the tire, in the middle of the tread, and tighten it like a turn-a-kit.This'll push the bead to the rim.

  3. for mine, i went to a Harbour Freight store and bought an already mounted tire and wheel for $4.99. works perfect.

  4. while putting air in the tire push up and down on tread of the tire. also, spray 409 around lip of wheel/tire.

don't put your finger near lip of wheel/tire.
