How to fix broken latch on push button door?

I have a push button door know on my entry door with deadlock. I have to always use the deadlock because the latch on the push button door is stuck inside the k**b. Anyone know how I can maybe fix this?

  1. The push button may be stuck, from dirt, or even a broken spring.

    Do NOT use WD-40 in a lockset!  The oil attracts dirt, and causes it to gum up even worse.  Instead use graphite, to lubricate the lock.

    Worst case scenario, you can easily replace the knobset, usually for less than $30, and all you need is a screwdriver.

  2. Take the doorknob off and look inside to see if you can see why it's stuck. You might want to spray it with some WD40.
