How to fix hole in wood beam?

My previous tenant removed a pieace of dry wall and drilled 1.25x1.25 x2 inch deep hoel in wood beam ? I know how to fix dry wall. Do I need to do something special to fix hole in beam.

  1. you can put o piece of 1.25 inch dowel into the hole with wood glue.


  2. depending on the type and size of the beam, the location of the hole, and whether it goes all the way through, it may not have any effect on the strength of the beam.  Generally, in lumber if the hole is less than about 25% of the beam width, and is not in the top or bottom 1/3 of the beam, it is ok. Allowances are bigger for engineered lumber.  Check your local codes.
