I tried disconnecting my internet and all my other electronic appliances, but there's still static in the phone line. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

  1. get the Panasonic DECT 6.0 with build-in router!!

  2. Barbie has a great answer. I worked as TELCO repairman for 33 years and she knows what she speaks of.

  3. If you are using a cordless phone keep in mind you have an antenna hooked to your phone line picking up all kinds of signals. Normally it's the phone cord or a bad phone, but it can be a bad phone wire. Try disconnecting everything & then hook up 1 phone & see if you get static, if so try another phone & see if there is still static. If the static goes away it's the phone, if not it's in the phone wiring or phone lines. You should have a gray box on the outside. Open it & there should be a phone jack that is plugged in. Unplug it & plug in a phone, if the static is gone it's inside the house. If the static is still there it's time to call the phone company, because it's in their lines. It is always a good idea to keep one phone the plugs into the phone jack & does not need a power cord. That way if there is a power outage that phone will work off of the phone companys power.

  4. get a new DSL filter.

  5. The best bet is for you to plug in at the network interface outside of your home next to your electric meter. You will need a corded (not cordless) phone which doesn't require electricity and a flat head screwdriver. Locate the box and take out the s***w. inside you will find   a test jack with a cord going into it. unplug the cord and plug in your telephone directly to the jack. (you are trying to determine if the trouble is on the line belonging to phone company or your equipment or wiring). If the signal is clear when you plug in at the box then go inside and remove EVERYTHING from your phone jacks. Then only plug the same phone you tried outside on one of your jacks. If no trouble then add one more phone but test each time to verify static. If you have static on one piece of equipment it WILL effect the entire line. Also, try wiggling cords or moving away from the base if you have cordless. If none of this helps ,call the phone company they will run a free test over the phone to try to isolate problem for you.

  6. call your local phone company repair and ask them to test your line it sound like it is a line issue not not out of your house

  7. It can be the quality of the underground line deteriorating. Call up your network and ask them to check it out.

Most of the time they don't charge you if it's their lines damaged.
