- 8GB iPhone, has water damage. The screen turns on but you can only make an 'emergency' call. The phone also reads 'iphone needs repair'. There are some scratches on the screen and back but no dents. (now for the story) - So I was out on the lake getting ready for a wakeboard tournament... I had all my equipment (rope, handle, helmet). I then strap on my wakeboard and jump off the dock to start riding.. but there was one problem. My iphone was in my pocket. I emediatly jumped out and turned it off. It worked about 2 hours after that but now just says needs repair.. Maybe someone can get it working again. Feel free to message me.

  1. For water, I usually let electronics sit for 48-74hrs before using it again (some place that has a fan or is well ventilated). this means turning it off and not touching it. if possible take all batteries out and not plugging it in. In the case of the iPhone, I don't think you can take the battery out. So id say let it sit in front of a fan or something.

If it still seems to not fully work when dried, take it to any apple store. You may have to pay for the repair. I believe if your covered under apple care, you may not have to pay.

    I hope that helps...

  2. it can't be fixed you stupid you messed it up r****d

  3. I'm sorry to say but you're screwed.  You're going to have to pay flat out to get it fixed...you may even need a new one.  If you take out the battery and look behind it there is probably a little white circle thing.  Well, it used to be white, its probably purple or red now.  This is how manufacturers and repair companies know if there is water damage. So if you have a warantee, they don't cover water damage.  Good luck!

  4. take it to an apple store it will be a lot of money though. you might want to get a new one.

  5. EDITED :: Try putting the phone in the refrigerator. This may sound strange because most of us associate heat with the drying process. Actually the refrigerator cools things by drawing moisture out of things. Do not put the phone in the freezer as this can damage the LCD

(Liquid crystal display) After 30 minutes or so, take it out for about 10 minutes, and repeat until the phone is dry.
