How to fix my Mitsubishi DLP TV? No activity when I hit power?

Model: WD-52631

Called local service tech and they recommended I replace the lamp.

I ordered one online and installed tonight after work. After installing and putting on the back cover the lamp light stopped flashing and I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes, plugged back in, the green timer light flashed for 30-60 seconds, I waited a few more minutes before hitting power and we're back to no further activity.

No sounds from the inside of the tv like usual (I had my speakers set to mute since I have surround sound), nothing on-screen, no lights on the leds below, no nothing.

Ideas anyone?

  1. 1st thing I would do is take off and reinstall the lamp door.  It has switch that may be out of place especially if you took the whole back off the tv--I've experinced this.

2nd unplug count to ten and replug.  Reboot is green light flashing for 60 seconds.

3rd  try the remote instead of the buttons on front.  Front panel lock may be "on" killing the control panel.

4th  Try running your fingers over ALL of the buttons on the front control panel several times.  I had one of these that had a sticky tact switch.  If you have a leaky/stuck switch the set will not turn on because the micro is being confused by multiple commands.  I was able to get the set to run but had to replace the switches.

A totally dead set on this model is very rare.  Beyond the above I (a technicain)  would have to inspect it.
