I have those three k***s one for cold water and other for hot..when i turn them they spill water out the bottom spout into the tub(this works fine)..but when i turn the middle k**b (that should divert the water 100% to the shower head)..50% or more is still coming out of the bottom spout and only 40% or less is coming out the shower head..

1) What is wrong?

2) How can i fix it?

  1. It sounds to me like your water pressure is not high enough to send it through the shower head. Try getting a low flow head and that should help the situation. Good luck

  2. if the diverter is on the tub spout, replace the spout.

if it's on the valve body, you have to shut off the water and replace the diverter.

  3. I don't think this is a job for the layperson. call a plumber. there are many different diverters in many different valves.

  4. you need to rebuild the diverter stem. take off the handle. remove the stem. now dont forget to also take out the seat. this is a part all the way in the back of the valve. you will n eed to purchase a seat tool for this. if you dont change out the seat then you wont be completely fixing your problem. once you have the seat and the stem taken out go to the hardware store and get exact replacements. you might as well do it for the hot and cold water also
