right now my garden is pretty much all weeds. It is the weed that looks like grass though, that grow long stems.

I want to have real grass and to fix my garden nicely.

I live in Florida if that matters any.

  1. Good luck trying to have real grass in Fl. You don't say what you are growing in your garden. Veg. or flowers or both? One idea is to turn the soil in the garden and add compost. Then put a mulch down. You might also try a herbicide to take care of the weeds. Read the label carefully so you are applying the right stuff. You don't want to poison any veggies you might have growing. You could also try an edging around your garden to keep the grass from growing into it. Buy a stirrup hoe to weed in between the plants. They work wonders and make weeding easy. You should also check out the University of Florida in Gainsville, they have a great web site for horticulture. Good luck.

P.S. Watch out for those mole crickets. They can reak havoc overnight.

  2. I'd try to get the weeds taken care of first.  Then I'd start working on the garden...  I'd work in small areas at a time and I'd plant things that are easily grown in your region.  Educate yourself on what grows well in your area..... Most importantly, have fun.  With some time and effort, you'll have the nice garden you want. Good luck....
