  1. alright sweetnut, here we go. first, put masking tape on the jam where you think the latch will hit. next, use a pencil to "draw" on the end of the latch. now close the door and swing it back and forth to transfer the pencil onto the tape, this shows you where your strike plate needs to be. find the center of the pencil marks and mark it. use a one inch "spade bit" in your drill and make a hole at least 3/4" deep. get a strike plate from hardware store, hold inplace, close door. once you have it where you want it, mark top and bottom. open door, trace strike plate. use a thin,  SHARP chisel to take just enough wood out so the plate sits flush. be sure to tap chisel straight in all around trace marks first. s***w it in. your done! good luck!

  2. it is hard to do, you should get someone with tools and experience to do it for you.  You can also hurt yourself if your drill bit gets stuck, it can leave a mark on your arm even scrape some skin of your arm.
