How to fix problem in vista?

Question

i tried to reinstall vista when an error had came up saying error 0x80070017 regestry file is missing or corrupt. my computers stats are

2gb ram

3.2ghz

300 gb RAM

nvidea geforce 7600gt graphics card

if you do no how to fix this problem please tell me thank you also if a special software from the internet is needed it must be free. and also could you please tell me is there a software in the shops where you can buy to fix this problem.

More than one person has had success by cleaning the disc really well then installing. I don't have any personal experience with that but have read that error in forums re. installing vista.
