How to fix seats in a 2 door car

In the 2 door Alero there is a lever type thing on the back of the driver and passenger seats to let people in the back, anyway on the passenger side the lever is stuck up so it doesn't lock the seat back... I tried pushing it down and everything I could without breaking it, does anyone know how to fix it?

  1. my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop..

  2. While most cars are different there's usually some cable or link from the handle to the latch where the seat latches to the bottom part.   Tilt the seat forward and usually there's a two part "jaws" arrangement that opens with the latch handle and closes when it hits the "pin" in the bottom section.    May just be jammed do use a large screwdriver or lever to unpry the jaws while the latch is held up.    Jiggle it at the same time.   Chances are it's a cable that's out of adjustment requiring lube or adjustment.    If you're luck though you can oil/grease the jaws and work the oil in to get it working good enough.
