Our washer leaked last night and we got most of the water up but one spot on the hardwood has cupped (bowed upwards) what is the best way to fix this?

  1. You will have to replace that portion of damaged area with new material.

It is the only way once the wood is cupped...

    ROSCoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

  2. Assuming the cupping is not severe, use a belt sander to sand it flat again. Make sure the cupped height is less than the thickness of the hardwood. Also make sure the cupped area is thoroughly dry. You might want to use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process. Also make sure after it is sanded and flat, apply polyurethane to protect the surface, use satin or gloss depending on your unaffected area's finish.

  3. I don't know if setting something REALLY heavy would un-cup it if it's still wet, but I don't think so...if you don't know how to diy, call a professional!
