  1. well you wait for a windy day to come, get an open space and get your kite in the air by running really fast and it will eventually get off the ground and stay in the air

  2. The long line launch is usually best.  Have a friend hold the kite for you.  Then walk out about 50' of line.  Stand with your back to the wind.  When you feel a good breeze, signal your friend to let go of the kite and at the same time you pull on the line and keep pulling hand over hand until the kite is at a desired height.  Make sure your friend don't throw the kite, it will cause instability.  If you are flying alone, you most likely will need to find something to prop your kite up.  Where I fly I prop my kite up on a goal post.  Walk out 50' then I pull gently on the line until I feel that tension on the string, and the kite is vertical.  Then I give it a stiff tug, that will usually send my kite soaring.

A few things to keep in mind, choose your flying area wisely, make sure there isn't a line of trees blocking the wind for instance.  At the park I sometime do my flying, the entire park is ringed with trees.  So I had to use my ultra light kites to fly there, and even then I have to wait for a lucky breeze.  But once the kite gets above the tree line then it's smooth flying.

If you're at the beach, then it's only a matter of standing with your back to the wind and letting out the line.  Hold the kite by the bridle and hold it above your head as high as your arm can reach.  You'll feel a pull and then just let out the line.  If you notice the kite spinning, that means the wind is too much.  Either add a tail or move the tow point higher on the bridle.  Higher tow point will reduce the angle of attack of the kite, making it dump more wind through the rear.  If the kite is not taking off, there's probably not enough wind, lower the tow point.  But also watch that you don't lower it too much, because when the tow point is too low the kite will also stall and won't take off.  When changing tow points, move it 1/4" at a time.
